Sometimes it's the little things...

Check out this post 6/9/06 over at www.bostongalsopenwallet.blogspot.com and you will read the coolest post about little things that bring pleasure to our lives.

Simple Things

I am going to read a book called "Moving On," by Sarah Ban Breathnach. I had read her other book called "Simple Abundance," and thoroughly enjoyed it. Why is it some people cannot just "be". I enjoy sitting in my yard and reading or watching the kids play. I also enjoy watching an occasional DVD when everyone is in bed. I can just enjoy being here and not really having to go somewhere every day or be productive every day. I am teaching my kids to be still in the moment. This is something so many have forgotten in a rush rush world. Today I am going to sit outside and read. Then I will probably go on a picnic lunch with my kids to the park. We will also go watch the BMX bike demonstration at our new skate park. This is within walking distance. For dinner maybe we will BBQ. I can't understand why this is not enjoyable to some. For me it is free and time to just be with the kids and myself. I hope they can grow up to not have to depend on things and going places for entertainment and they can find it all around them if they try.

From here to eternity

New housing

This is where I used to live until the military moved us and decided to knock it down and build new housing. As you can see the completion of phase 1 (knocking down the old stuff), is just about complete. Posted by Picasa

3D

Last night the boys got "Spy Kids 3," from the library. They enjoyed using the 3D glasses. You gotta love the Public Library especially for the summer. We rarely rent DVD's, but when summer comes and we want one, the Public library has them for free. Last week I watched "Jarhead," which I thought was horrible and was glad I didn't pay a fee for. Last night I watched "Crash," which I really liked. It was a hard movie to watch because it brings the subject of racism to the front of the line. I think it also shows people how racism is still a problem and it runs much deeper than anyone wants to admit. Once again I watched this for free thanks to the Public library. So many people spend a fortune in the summer and I can't really figure out why. There are so many frugal activies out there. Going to the pool, beach or lake, getting free books, CD's and DVD's from the library (Ok some librarys charge a fee like $1. but this is a lot less expensive than the video store and it goes to a good cause, supporting the library), having a picnic in the park, sightseeing, and many other activities. I can't imagine why people want to pay for stuff when all the best things in life are free. Last night me and the kids just sat and read a ton of library books before they watched their movie. Once again "free". Posted by Picasa

Summer reading

I just finished this book "Sams Letters to Jennifer," It was very good but nowhere near as shocking or heartbreaking as "Suzannes Diary to Nicholas." I am also going to read "Lake House" by James Patterson. Has anyone read this? Was it any good? Posted by Picasa

Halloween?

I guess Darrian thinks it is Halloween. He is dressing up in spyro wings an a bike helmet. Costumes cost a fortune so this is a pretty frugal way of celebrating. Posted by Picasa

All That Blog

Stolen from www.bookwormom.blogspot.com is a saying that applies to me and many I know.

She who dies with the most books wins!

I thought this says it all.

yes chef part 2

I watched the 2 hour show today and I think it might even be better than last year. Maybe a little more brutal also. I think chef Ramsey is so funny. I guess he isn't funny when he is yelling at you, but all in all he makes for great reality tv. I really liked the girl who burnt her fingers and I think she probably can find her way around a kitchen easily. I was sad that Larry had to go though. I think he would of improved over time, but this environment just might have been too stressful. I guess we will see in coming episodes who can hold their own.

gadgets and apps

So many cool things for the older generation...not that I am that old yet....but can they please get names that don't make the older pee...
