Change

I like change, just not too much change. On Sunday my minister was talking about change and how things are changing in the church. He was doing a big sermon on pruning and all that. I came home and said to my daughter "Pastor Ko talked a lot about change today, it sounds like an awful lot, how much change do you think he is talking about?" She said "mom things have to change, they can't just stay the same." This is the young generation talking. "Why not?' "Because when things don't grow they have to change." "Well why do they have to change a lot and what do you think he was talking about changing?" "She said "I don't know, but he's not going to tell you everything, thats why he's the pastor and your not." On Easter my daughter said "we have a new choir." She goes to the service before me sometimes. I said "New choir. Why? What happened to the band?" I love my band it's so young and alive. She said the band is still there but they added a choir. Thank God because if they got rid of the band I am going to find a new church. My daughter looked at me like I had 2 heads and said "Yeah right, you are not going to find a new church just because they got rid of your band, which they didn't by the way." She knows me. I am not going to change churches because of this. I like my church, it's just that I like that it is the same week after week. Usually I end up liking things a little better in the long run. I was happy when Sunday this awesome teenage boy led the praise and worship. He was so on fire. I liked this change so I said "Vanessa did you see that boy who led the music this morning?" "ya that was Trenton." "Well he is awesome, is he the new director?" "No he comes from East Honolulu?" "East Honolulu, you mean he can't stay?" "No mom I told you he's from East Honolulu." I had liked this change, until I found out it was only temporary. I guess I should try our East Honolulu church. Of course I won't. I like my church. Like I said, or like my 4 year old says when two things are alike, "look mom, same same." "Yes that's the way I like things, same same.

I'm just the opposite as you...with most things anyway.
I like change. If things stay the same for too long I get bored.
Hope you adjust to the new changes!!

Oh, I know. One year ago, we found the most awesome church. We have never heard a pastor as good as Pastor Rick. Now, a year later, he announced to everyone that he is going to pastor a different church. I like some changes, but this one is going to be hard.

I think when you are young change is fun and easy and attractive. As we get older..we get comfortable and it is hard to change anything. We like our comfort zone and really dont want anyone messing with that. There is nothing wrong with the way we feel. It's part of life...our seasons change. Do what your heart wants.

Change can definitely be a shock to our system. Five years ago, my husband and I started visiting a church in a temporary location. It was a church of Christ congregation that was planning to build at a more permanent location. I assumed that since it was a temp site, that explained the lack of choir, piano, or band. Things I was used to from my minimal Baptist experience. Imagine my surprise when I found out that they worshipped without instruments! That was a big change, but we loved the people enough to stay. Now, it is a change to visit other churches that have those things...not wrong, just different!

That is so neat that you live in Hawaii. We visited there in November and I loved Oahu!!!

I am such a creature of same-same. I always order the same thing at my favorite restaurants, I love the comfort of just knowing. I sit in the same spot at church and I love when things just stay the same. Change is always a good thing, and I do welcome some change...like the kind I find in the coin form in the laundry.

gadgets and apps

So many cool things for the older generation...not that I am that old yet....but can they please get names that don't make the older pee...
